The SESCO project plots, in a transnational scheme, the integration of renewable energy sources in the energetic background of two isolated communities, while improving the development of local renewable energy sources and their territorial competitivity. SESCO's main objective is to create a more energetically independent and environmentally friendly community. SESCO is carried out in two integrated phases: the Research and Technical Development (RTD) Phase; and the Demo Phase. The RTD Phase is focused on the regional evaluation of potential renewable energy sources, the economic and technical viability and the social consequences of the use of alternative energy production systems. The environmental impact of the diferent energy sources will be evaluated through adapted Life-Cycle Assessment Methodology. During this Phase the community energy profile will be examined from the perspective of the user and from that of the energy-producer/distributor. The Demo Phase will require the construction of energy plants that use regional renewable energy resources.
